Adapting Level 1 to Your Needs

Level 1 practice is partly performed standing; therefore it can be challenging for those who perhaps lack energy or have pain. Remember that the practice of Sophrology is adaptable and should meet you where you are, so figure out how you can make it work for you. You might choose to concentrate on one system and then sit to recuperate. Over time it will help your energy levels to increase. You may choose to do these exercises sitting, and simply adapt them so you can still enjoy their benefits and observe the sensations they generate. The whole point of Sophrology is to tune in and find what works for you. Never force a position or a move. It is not about doing gymnastics or building muscle power; it is about being mindful of what is happening as you perform the motions and then pause. Do these exercises gently or more energetically depending on your level of fitness and what you like or need in the moment.
